Hate speech

To see how little merit and how much patronage counts in the new SA, read Thick Edge of the Wedge on Dali Mpofu’s ravings in City Press, followed by Eddie Mohoebi’s Alarmist article (October 23).

Mpofu plays the race card to deflect the publicity over censorship at the SABC and Mohoebi attacks Farmers Weekly for correctly reporting that land affairs is considering land-grabbing, Zimbabwe style.

Both gentlemen abuse taxpayers who pay their salaries, using public resources to push their party line and between them spew hatred of whites, fellow-travellers, liberals and right-wingers, media prostitutes and deluded farmers.

Both fill holes in their arguments with the contempt that 70 years ago launched the holocaust. In City Press, Mpofu joined the club with Hitler’s Goebbels and Mugabe’s Moyo.

Faced with this abuse, may the Human Rights Commission test Mpofu for hate speech and viewers withhold their TV licences: that is the right thing to do.

You refer to the “intellectual poverty” of an article written by Dali Mpofu in City Press, The Thick End of the Wedge (October 23).

I have a suggestion. Let us petition government to have Mpofu moved to Ronnie Kasrils’ intelligence department. Such a move would improve the intellect of this department as well as the SABC.
