The latest Joint United Nations Programme on AIDS (UNAIDS) guide on terminology advises that the phrase “response to AIDS” is now preferred to “fight against AIDS”.
God forbid we use combative language against this killer! If this verbal weakening reflects the mental strength of the world’s leading anti-AIDS body, one asks why political correctness is never physically robust.
Between a president who does not want to believe in AIDS and a UNAIDS that does not want to fight it is it any wonder that we are losing the war?
